Water Treatment Plant Trainee

Job Summary: The Water Treatment Plant Trainee will assist in the operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant to ensure the delivery of safe, clean drinking water to residents. Reporting to the Water Treatment Plant Manager, the trainee will gain hands-on experience in plant operations and maintenance. This is an entry-level training position with the opportunity to progress to Level I and Level II certification. Training will take place throughout the summer months, with formal certification opportunities available during the winter months.

Responsibilities: 

• Maintain water treatment plant systems to ensure the delivery of a safe and clean community water supply.

• Maintain and service main sewer lines and manholes throughout the community.

• Monitor and service community lagoons.

• Inspect, service, and repair components of the water treatment plant, including water intakes, piping systems, storage vessels, chemical treatment equipment, control systems, circulation pumps, boilers, heat exchangers, and valves.

• Prepare and complete work orders for maintenance, servicing, and repairs.

• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Public Works Director and/or Water Treatment Plant Manager.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

• Access to a reliable vehicle.

• Safety tickets/certifications are considered an asset.
