Position: Support Worker (3) Department: Adult Support Home
Job Classification: (safety sensitive) Reports to: Program Coordinator
Job Summary: Support workers report to the designated supervisory staff. Support workers are responsible
for providing supportive services and a safe environment for the clients in the home. This is a full-time
position and will only be scheduled as needed. Shift work: 10-to-12-hour shifts.
Job Duties:
• Assist in providing support in areas of choice for: medical, physical, emotional, spiritual and mental
wellness.
• Assist clients with personal hygiene and grooming while respecting their personal choice.
• Assist and support the client in recreation and leisure participation and planning in either the home or
community setting.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Ability to work collaboratively with families, health care professionals, and community partners.
• Daily documentation and incident reports.
Job Qualifications:
• Minimum Grade 12.
• Experience working with individuals with cognitive disabilities.
• Experience providing person-centered care and implementing individualized support plans.
• Strong understanding of First Nations Culture, History and Traditions.
• Previous experience working in a First Nation.
• Experience working independently while maintaining accurate documentation.
• First Aid & CPR an asset
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
• Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training preferred.
• Must have excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
• Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced, high stress work environment.
