Position: Sport Development Coach
Department: Sports, Culture & Recreation – Minor Sports
Job Classification: Full-Time (Safety Sensitive) Reports to: Minor Sports Coordinator
Job Summary: Onion Lake Sports, Culture & Recreation is seeking one full-time Sport Development Coach.
The successful candidate will support the development of Onion Lake Minor Hockey and other Minor Sports
teams through synthetic ice skill development sessions, private training services, team on-ice and off-ice
sessions, and spring/fall sport programs.
Responsibilities:
Foster an environment that promotes athlete success, player development, and coach development
through Hockey Canada and other sport programs.
Be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Maintain a welcoming, approachable, and professional attitude toward athletes, families, coaches, and
community members.
Assess athletes and teams to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
Plan, develop, and deliver training sessions and practice programs.
Develop and coordinate competitive schedules, programs, and events.
Analyze athlete and team performance and adjust training plans as needed.
Build positive relationships within the community and participate in fundraising activities and all Onion
Lake Sports & Recreation events.
Demonstrate professionalism, maturity, and leadership in all aspects of the role.
Qualifications:
Ability to work effectively with adults, youth, and children.
Previous success as a Coach or Head Coach, with relevant coaching certifications.
Experience working with youth is considered an asset.
Ability to work independently and lead teams.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with individuals at all levels.
Motivated and organized, with the ability to run sport and recreation programs.
Physical fitness and self-confidence are essential.
Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
