Responsibilities:
To work closely with Duty to Consult on Onion Lake Cree Nation traditional territories to identify
negative environmental and cultural impacts related to traditional uses.
Work with proponents to evaluate environmental impacts on all proposed developments on Onion Lake
Cree Nation and our traditional territories.
To work with various organizations to ensure Onion Lake Cree Nation lands are protected and to
communicate all written environmental reports to the Director of Lands.
Responsible for ensuring Onion Lake Cree Nation exercises due diligence with regard to monitoring
environmental impacts on Onion Lake Cree Nation Lands prior to development.
Ensuring environmental impacts to culturally sensitive lands are mitigated in such areas used for sacred
ceremonial sites, hunting and trapping areas, berry picking sites, etc.
Supervision of the Lands Environmental Monitor.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary Environmental Science or Biological Science Certificate/Diploma.
Good knowledge of the OLCN land base, administration, and land use.
Understanding of oil and natural gas exploration and development procedures and related
environmental protection measures.
Expertise in environmental protection commitments, and proposed mitigation and enhancement
measures.
Familiarity with project areas or similar environments.
Valid Class 5 Driver's license with own vehicle.
Oil field-related work experience is a definite asset in the Environmental assessments
Experience is an asset
