Position:  Receptionist/Dispatcher

Job Classification: Full-Time (Safety Sensitive)

Reports to: Director of Public Works

Job Summary: The Onion Lake Public Works department is currently seeking applicants to fulfill the position of the receptionist/dispatcher. This individual is responsible for organizing and coordinating office operations and procedures. This includes managing the operations of the front desk and providing support in a fast-paced, high-call-volume office environment. The individual reports to the Director of Public Works and is responsible for providing services to the general public.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors and clients in an appropriate manner and direct them to the appropriate employee or office location.

  • Answer a high volume of calls while maintaining an appropriate response time.

  • Take messages for employees.

  • Maintain and update staff availability and employee attendance logs (sign-in/sign-out).

  • Operate a variety of standard office equipment including photocopier, fax machine, and time clock.

  • Maintain and organize the public bulletin board (postings).

  • Advise the immediate supervisor of all concerns related to front desk operations.

  • Daily pick-up of mail at the OLCN Admin Office and/or Post Office.

  • Use radios and/or telephones to dispatch trucks and provide accurate directions for deliveries and pick-ups.

  • Enter and file data accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Completed High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Office experience is an asset.

  • Excellent customer service/communication skills.

  • Ability to speak Cree is an asset.
