The Onion Lake Public Works Department is currently seeking applicants to fulfill the
position of the receptionist/dispatcher. This individual is responsible for organizing and coordinating office
operations and procedures. This includes managing the operations of the front desk and providing support in a
fast-paced, high-call-volume office environment. The individual reports to the Director of Public Works and is
responsible for providing services to the general public.
Responsibilities:
• Greet visitors and clients in appropriate manner and provide direction to an employee or office location.
• Answer a high volume of calls and maintain an adequate response rate.
• Take messages for employees.
• Continuously update and log the availability of staff, maintaining an employee attendance log book
(reporting in and out).
• Operate a variety of standard office machines: Photocopier, fax, time clock.
• Maintain and organize the public bulletin board (postings).
• Advise the immediate supervisor of all concerns related to the operations of the front desk.
• Daily pick up mail at the OLCN Admin office and/or Post Office.
• Use radios and/or telephones to dispatch trucks and provide accurate directions for delivery and pick-up
services.
• Enter and file data tasks as necessary in a timely and accurate manner.
• Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
• Completed high school or equivalent.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Office experience is an asset.
• Excellent customer/communication skills.
• Ability to speak Cree is an asset.
