Native Justice Board Member (Two Positions)

Note: Board members shall receive training and instruction for their duties and responsibilities.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Native Justice Board shall:

• Identify and provide law development in accordance with government regulations.

• Support and assist with independent concerns involving Onion Lake Cree Nation (OLCN) communities.

• Review inmate requests for returning to the OLCN community and determine if the return is in the best interests of the member and community.

• Examine appeals on banishments regarding members and non-members residing in the OLCN community.

• Assist with the Drug & Gang Strategy.

• Analyze and develop court processes for the OLCN community.

• Support the Native Justice department through annual forums, feasts, and community events where board support is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Must be a member of the Onion Lake Cree Nation.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Must be in good standing with the community.

• Must have good communication skills.

• Must possess a valid Driver’s License.

• Must reside in Onion Lake.
