Job Summary: Onion Lake Sports, Culture & Recreation is seeking applications for four (4) full-time Maintenance Personnel positions. The successful candidates will be responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and upkeep of the community arena, outdoor arenas, ball diamonds, and spray parks, ensuring facilities are safe, clean, and operating efficiently.
Responsibilities:
Perform daily maintenance and operation of the arena and outdoor arenas.
Assist with artificial ice making, ice installation, maintenance, repair, and removal.
Operate and maintain the Zamboni, including changing blades.
Operate an ice edger and perform proper ice-shaving techniques.
Conduct regular equipment inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
Complete dasher board repairs and plexiglass replacement as required.
Prepare ball diamonds by dragging, raking, lining, watering, and mowing to ensure safe playing conditions.
Clean dugouts, bleachers, washrooms, and surrounding areas.
Remove garbage and perform general janitorial duties.
Complete or report minor repairs to facilities, fences, gates, and equipment.
Maintain work logs, maintenance records, and inventory.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Arena Manager and the Director of Sports, Culture & Recreation.
Qualifications:
Ability to obtain and maintain Arena Operator Level 1 Certification.
Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.
WHMIS Certification.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a self-motivated environment.
Ability to safely operate small and heavy equipment.
Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with community groups and stakeholders.
General knowledge of building and grounds maintenance is an asset.
Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence required.
Knowledge of arena operations, ice maintenance, and recreational facility maintenance is considered an asset.
