Position: Maintenance Personnel

Reports to: Project Manager
Job Summary: The Maintenance Personnel will ensure all facilities under OLHBI are safely maintained to the highest level of operational efficiency. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, the maintenance personnel is responsible for overall building maintenance, repairs, installations and support for all building systems and operations.
Job Duties & Skills:
• Daily walk around of interior and exterior facilities to determine if there are any issues that require further or corrective action.
• Performing maintenance, ensuring effective operation of the following systems: landscaping, building operations, plumbing, exteriors, electrical, and equipment.
• Keep accurate maintenance records of work completed.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe worksite.
• Identify and report to Maintenance manager any problems and recommend changes to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, or comply with building and safety codes.
• Basic understanding of health and safely legislation, and the design, operation and maintenance of building systems.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction; work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
• Knowledge in the operation of various hand and power tools.
• Must possess a positive attitude with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, staff, vendors and public.
• On call 24 hours a day; able to respond to emergency situations 24/7.
• Other Maintenance duties as required or assigned.
Job Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by other discipline related to building maintenance or equivalent experience preferred.
• Must possess a Valid driver’s license and have a reliable vehicle.
• 3-5 years experience in building maintenance and repairs.
• Strong understanding of First Nations Culture, History and Traditions.
• Previous experience working in a First Nation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
• Certificate in First Aid and WHMIS preferred.
• Willingness to learn new skills and participate in ongoing training.
• Trade Certificate is a valued asset.
