Job Summary: The Labourer/Steamer Operator is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the Onion Lake Cree Nation (OLCN) Public Works Liquid Waste Division. This position provides support in the servicing, repair, and replacement of sewage septic systems and lines throughout OLCN. The incumbent also operates the steam truck unit as required and assists the Liquid Waste Supervisor and Heavy Equipment Operators (HEO) with various operational duties.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Liquid Waste Supervisor with the daily operations of the Liquid Waste Division.
Service, repair, and replace sewage septic systems and sewer lines throughout OLCN.
Operate the steam truck unit and related equipment as required.
Provide labour support to the Liquid Waste Supervisor and Heavy Equipment Operators.
Perform excavation, ground work, and construction-related duties associated with septic system repairs and installations.
Assist with preventative maintenance and upkeep of equipment and tools.
Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with departmental procedures and safety standards.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment.
Respond to emergency call-outs and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
Previous labour experience in ground works, construction, or related fields is considered an asset.
Ability to safely operate equipment and tools related to liquid waste operations.
Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather and environmental conditions.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required.
Knowledge of septic systems and liquid waste operations is considered an asset.
