Position:  Grader Operator

Department:  Public Works - Roads

Job Classification: Full-Time (Safety Sensitive)

Reports to: Public Works Director

 

 

Job Summary: The Grader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a motor grader to maintain community roads, approaches, and driveways. This role ensures roadways are kept in safe and functional condition. The operator must be able to work in extreme weather conditions as required.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain all community roads, approaches, and driveways to ensure safe and functional conditions.

  • Operate the grader as required to support road maintenance activities.

  • Work in extreme weather conditions, including heat and cold.

  • Follow direction from the Roads Supervisor.

  • Provide professional and quality service to OLCN members.

  • Promote and maintain a high standard of safety for Public Works staff and community members.

  • Conduct daily equipment circle checks and report any concerns.

 

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of grader operation and safe operating practices.

  • Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques.

  • Understanding of routine servicing requirements, including changing blades and fluids.

  • Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) Certificate required.

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

  • Physically fit and able to perform demanding work.

  • Possession of required safety tickets/certifications.
