Job Summary: The Director of Administration provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Administration Department. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer – Administration, this position is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of administrative services, supervising departmental staff, coordinating organizational initiatives, and supporting the achievement of Onion Lake Cree Nation's strategic goals while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented work environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to the Administration Department.
Supervise and support the Administration Department.
Develop departmental goals, work plans, and operational priorities aligned with organizational objectives.
Oversee daily administrative operations and lead organizational projects from planning through implementation.
Prepare reports, presentations, recommendations, and briefing materials for senior leadership.
Monitor departmental budgets and ensure responsible financial stewardship.
Develop, review, and implement policies, procedures, and administrative best practices.
Build positive relationships with internal departments, community members, external agencies, and organizational partners.
Identify operational challenges and implement practical, evidence-based solutions.
Support strategic planning, continuous improvement, change management initiatives, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and legislative requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field.
Minimum five (5) years of progressive administrative leadership experience, including supervisory or management responsibilities.
Experience working within Indigenous organizations or First Nations communities is considered an asset.
Strong knowledge of organizational development, administrative practices, and operational management.
Demonstrate leadership, project management, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication, presentation, report-writing, relationship-building, and conflict-resolution skills.
Strong financial and budget management capabilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other administrative software applications.
Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, accountability, and integrity while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
