The Curriculum Developer - Gift of Language is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing a Cree (Nehiyawêwin) language and culture curriculum that supports learners across ages and levels. This position will create high-quality teaching and learning materials grounded in community knowledge, Elders' guidance, nēhiyaw values, while aligning with educational standards and the goals of the Gift of Language initiative.
Qualification - Preferably
Bachelor's degree in Education, Indigenous Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Linguistics, or related field; OR a combination of equivalent education and significant experience in Cree language teaching and curriculum design.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Design and Planning; Resource and Lesson Development; Community and Elder Engagement; Alignment and Documentation; and Implementation and Teacher Support.
Knowledgeable In:
Curriculum development and/or instructional design, preferably in Indigenous or First Nations education; Experience teaching or supporting Cree (Nehiyawêwin) language programs in school and/or community settings is a strong asset; and, Experience working with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members in respectful and collaborative ways.
Language and Cultural Knowledge:
Cree language proficiency (spoken and/or written) preferred; willingness to continue learning is required; Strong understanding of Cree culture, values, and community contexts, especially those of the Onion Lake Cree Nation.
