ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to and partnering with the Administrative Manager, the Communications Officer will develop and execute communication strategies, create content (press releases, web copy, social media), manages media relations, organize events and ensure consistent brand messaging internally and externally, aiming to build public awareness and positive reputation for Onion Lake Family Services. They will act as a liaison with the public and media, handle inquiries and might act as spokesperson.

• Develop, implement, and manage overall digital communication strategies aligning with organizational objectives.
• Write, edit, design and publish posts, articles, videos and graphics for social media and websites.
• Manage public image, handling inquiries, and representing the organization at events, while fostering strong public relationships.
• Plan and execute promotional, public, or internal events.
• Update and maintain website content, ensuring visual consistency and alignment with digital goals.
• Ensure all communications reflect the organization’s brand and tone, sometimes requiring empathy for sensitive topics.
• Execute paid and organic social media campaigns and advertising.
• Identifies and implements opportunities for proactive media coverage to promote OLFS programs, initiatives, services, special events and accomplishments.
• Develop regular NEWS bulletin, and publications regarding OLFS programs, opportunities, events and community updates.
• Develops strategic communication plans and calendars for OLFS projects, programs, services and/or issues management.
• Enhance internal and external communication strategies of OLFS
• Other duties that are complimentary to the role of Communications Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma in Communications with a minimum of 3 years experience in digital communications.
• Diploma in Website Development
• Clear criminal record with vulnerable sector.
• Class 5 drivers license with acceptable abstract

COMPETENCIES

• Basic knowledge in search engine optimism.
• Proven working experience in web programming
• Adequate knowledge of relational database systems, object oriented programming, and application development.
• Knowledge of PR, marketing, and digital communication best practices.
• Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
• Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
• High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability.
• Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
• Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
