The Child & Youth Care Worker will be an essential part of the Group home team; assisting with on-going development of the youth and children. The Care Worker will provide supervision, transportation, and assist with the daily routines of each child and youth. Care workers will abide by the provincial legislation, policies, and procedures, along with the Onion Lake Health Board Inc. Policy Manual.
Job Duties:
- Participate in the preparation of the youth’s case plan – short- and long-term goals; provide input into case plans.
- Encourage and facilitate appropriate family involvement during the care of the youth. • Consistently provide stable, mature, sensitive, and caring role-model to the youth.
- Establish and implement clearly defined behavioural expectations, rules, and limits that are harmonized with the abilities of the youth.
- Participate actively in the basic life skills with the youth.
- Daily documentation (daily behavioural, incident, contact notes, medication dispensing form, etc.)
- Monitor and supervise youth daily by following the daily routines.
- Driving, coordinating, and participating in any organized trips and/or short excursions. • Debrief with all other Group Home staff.
- Maintains effective communication and liaison with other Onion Lake First Nations Agencies (ICFS, Schools, RCMP, Health, etc.)
Job Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 12.
- Certificate in Early Childhood Development and/or related education.
- Strong communication skills; Team player.
- Experience in documentation and report writing.
- A valid class 5 driver’s license; Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
- First-Aid & CPR an asset.
