Job Summary: The Associate Director supports the Director of Technical Services by implementing strategies, overseeing operations, leading staff, managing relationships, ensuring compliance, and supporting departmental decision-making.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement departmental strategies, plans, and priorities aligned with organizational goals.
Support daily Technical Services operations and ensure effective project and program delivery.
Provide leadership, workload planning, performance management, and staff development.
Oversee capital, infrastructure, facility, and community development projects from planning to completion.
Monitor budgets, schedules, risks, contracts, and funding requirements.
Conduct research, feasibility studies, and technical reviews to identify needs and opportunities.
Coordinate with contractors, consultants, agencies, partners, and internal departments.
Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and external partners.
Represent Technical Services at meetings, negotiations, and stakeholder engagements.
Support procurement activities, including RFQs, RFPs, tenders, contracts, and recommendations.
Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, policies, funding requirements, and safety standards.
Prepare reports, presentations, recommendations, and updates for leadership.
Assist with departmental planning, policy development, resource management, and continuous improvement.
Act on behalf of the Director when required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Management, or a related field.
3-5 years of project management experience preferred.
PMP or related project management certification is an asset.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
