Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accountant is responsible for performing more complex accounting 
functions and supporting accurate financial reporting. This role works independently on assigned tasks, supports 
month-end and year-end close processes, and assists senior accounting staff with analysis, reconciliations, and 
compliance.


Responsibilities: 
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Prepare monthly financial statements and variance analysis
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
• Play a key role in month-end and year-end close activities
• Prepare working papers and schedules for audits
• Assist with year-end audit and respond to auditor inquiries
• Review and reconcile AP and AR transactions and aging reports
• Ensure accuracy and compliance in invoice processing and collections
• Ensure accuracy and compliance in payroll processing and remittances (CRA, pension, group insurance)
• Review and reconcile payroll accounts
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies


Qualifications:
 Diploma/bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience
 Progress toward CPA or CAFM designation
 Demonstrable experience of full cycle accounting and month-end close
 Ensuring the integrity of the General Ledger
 Work with little supervision
 Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
 Experience with accounting systems (Xyntax)
 Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
 High attention to detail and accuracy
 Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently
 Strong communication and organizational skills
